Abstract
Consent in medicine is at the heart of our practice, but what happens when the abilities of the subject providing consent are impaired by Alzheimer's disease? Can philosophy and ethics offer us a sidestep in order to re-position the person at the centre of his or her choices, taking into account the chiaroscuro inherent in “all human beings”?
