Abstract
We propose a novel phase demodulation algorithm for phase shifting interferometry (PSI) named as advanced spatial spectrum fitting (ASSF) algorithm. By utilizing dual-operation of singular value decomposition (SVD) and hybrid temporally and spatially estimating the background intensity, the retrieved phase distribution will become more robust to the noise distribution compared with the traditional PSI. At the same time, with no particular temporal phase shifts distribution requirement, it realize stable self-calibration phase retrieval with few interferograms containing less than one fringe. Therefore, even when the interferograms are seriously corrupted by the random noise or the fringe number is small, the high quality phase retrieval is possible. Both simulation and experimental results will be used to demonstrate the outstanding performance of the proposed ASSF algorithm.
