Abstract
We propose in this article a rapid review of the main physical quantities related to the image quality, the Holy Grail of every detector manufacturer. We stress the importance of understanding the complex physics of the detector dark current, which carries important information on the achievable performance. We illustrate our assertion with the help of experimental results achieved on our III-V product lines, most especially InGaAs (SWIR) and InSb (MWIR) planar photodiode Focal Plane Arrays (FPAs).
