Abstract
The molybdenum storage protein deposits more than 100 Mo as polyoxomolybdate (POMo) clusters in a locked polypeptide cage. Different molybdate storage conditions or structures/electrostatics of the inner cage wall result in different POMo cluster patterns due an altered interplay between self- and protein-induced processes during Mo oxide anion assembly.87
