Abstract
138Synopsis. Variable pressure Raman and emission spectroscopy are used to characterize synthetic malaria pigment, hematin anhydride (β-hematin). At an applied pressure of 10â¯kbar the autofluoresence at 718â¯nm is quenched and there is a uniform increase in most Raman bands until 27â¯kbar when a phase transition occurs.
