Abstract
⺠Teiwa realis is encoded as an inflectional verbal suffix, irrealis is unexpressed. ⺠Realis inflection marks events as actual and located in the real world. ⺠Realis may extend into subjective value of expected or presupposed reality. ⺠The discourse function of realis is to mark main foregrounded narrative events.
