Locative and orientation descriptions in Tarascan: Topological relations and frames of reference

Abstract

âº Preferences in spatial frames of reference (FoRs) in Tarascan are presented. âº The use of body part affixes is excluded from the use of object-centered FoRs. âº Geomorphic and landmark-based FoRs are favored; the use of relative FoRs is scarce. âº Direct FoR is dominant in orientation descriptions under specific conditions. âº The combination of various FoRs in a single locative description is attested.
