Abstract
The article discusses the relationship between Gennadii Aigi and Velimir Khlebnikov. Aigi had a perfect knowledge of the Russian historical avant-garde and favoured Khlebnikov as the foremost innovator of Russian poetry. In his turn Aigi also wanted to renew Russian poetry and Russian poetic language, not by imitating Khlebnikov's “slovotvorchestvo” (“word-creation”), but by the arrangement of ordinary, general words in such a way that they were filled up with new and unexpected meanings.
