“The Great Migration of Seriousness”: Demʼjan Bednyj and the Early Soviet Propaganda

The article analyses satirical fables by Demʼian Bednyi – the first Soviet fable-writer. The author claims that through their use of allegorical images and characteristically rude language, the fables became a useful tool in the construction of the first generation of ideal Soviet readers and citizens.
