Thus Mamleev's literary creative method is to be considered as “metaphysical realism”. He is concerned with the fundamental relations between the I, the absolute and the eternal.More specifically, Mamleev's philosophical concerns are manifested in his novel Shatuny (a polysemous title), in which the characters display all kinds of extreme behaviour, one of them going as far as practising autophagy.
