Abstract
The article discusses Pushkinʼs libertine poem ‘The Gabrieliad’ and identifies French eighteenth-century texts that may have served as models for the Russian poet. Contrary to earlier researchersʼ statements, the author argues that there is at least one French text that treats the theme of the Annunciation in an irreverent way.
