Abstract
The article briefly sketches the contents of an introductory piece to a collection of Chekhov's stories by Kobylinskii-Ellis, once a Symbolist, who after emigrating to Switzerland continued to propagate Russian religious thought and literature in the Germanophone countries. The Chekhov text shows the development of Kobylinskii-Ellis's thinking at a later stage of his literary activities.
