Abstract
The international cooperation of Ry Nikonova and Sergej Sigej with the English Fluxus-artist Robin Crozier was something rather exceptional in the Soviet Union before the perestrojka, as the Russian artists at that time were isolated from the international artistic world. The network of Mail Art offered a possibility to realize common artistic projects. Nikonova and Sigej contributed to Crozier's project (started in 1983) Memo(random)/Memor(y). Together with Crozier they carried out a number of book projects. During a time in which the art of their country was dominated by ideology, Nikonova and Sigej developed the traditions of the Russian historical avant-garde.
