Abstract
We investigate the applicability of the Floor Field Cellular Automaton Model to merging pedestrian streams at T-junctions. For this purpose we examine the possibility to calibrate the model by comparing density profiles and fundamental diagrams with results of experiments. Due to the discreteness of the cellular automaton model the resolution of the predicted densities is very limited. For this reason we examine di_erent methods of density determination in cellular automata models. We consider two methods on a refined grid, the Voronoi approach and a Gaussian approach. Based on the obtained data, the comparison with the experiments is carried out.
