The exploratory study described below aims to identify the specific needs and fundamental training opportunities for school mediators, in order to ensure resources and support for students and for schools in less advantaged communities in Romania where are studying a significant number of Romani students. To meet these training needs and to exploit training opportunities for school mediators, we have designed a program of qualification for school mediators, capitalizing the exploratory study data.We have integrated under the concept needs analysis, the following data:•Enrollment of students from disadvantaged situation in a number of pilot/sample schools in Romania, the school units are proposed by the County School Inspectorates.•The parents’ opinions of disadvantaged students on the enrollment of their children.•The characteristics of school mediators at the beginning of the qualification program designed by us.
