Abstract
This research examined the connection between Sense of Coherence in Teaching Situations (SOCITS) and Burnout among first year teaching interns. SOCITS is an inner resource that helps interns cope with difficulties in teaching situations and has three components: Manageability, Comprehensibility and Meaningfulness. SOCITS and Burnout questionnaires were administered to 144 Israeli interns and Semi-Structured interviews were conducted. The results indicated that SOCITS serves as a buffer to Burnout - the higher the SOCITS, the lower the level of Burnout. Meaningfulness was found as a source of strength and predicts Burnout better than Manageability or Comprehensibility. The interviews reflected these findings.
