Abstract

The research engaged in the development of a Sense of Coherence in Teaching Situations (SOCITS), an inner resource that helps pre-service teachers cope with their difficulties in teaching situations, among 136 Israeli undergraduate special education pre-service-teachers, first and third year students.SOCITS has three components: Manageability, Comprehensibility and Meaningfulness. The research examined the development of SOCITS using SOCITS’ questionnaire and reflective diaries. The analysis showed a primary process of SOCITS’ development among pre-service-teachers. The results indicated the importance of each of the SOCITS’ components and the relationship among them in the development of SOCITS.The reflective diaries supported these findings.
