Abstract
Parental involvement in school is an issue of increasing importance in recent decades and many attempts have been made to understand it and its origins. This article discusses the theories, which may help in understanding this issue: “Closed door”, “Open door”, and Balance theory (Friedman, 2010).This article seeks to present these theories and to accentuate how they can help to teach coping with the phenomenon of parental involvement, recognize it and try to direct it for the good of the whole system.PhD research relying on these theories will focus on attitudes of teachers and parents concerning parental involvement.
