Abstract
Nowadays residential areas lack spirit and sense of place and become a place just for living in a shelter. It seems that the modern residential neighborhoods have a poorer sense of place in comparison to the traditional residential neighborhoods. In this study, after examining the literature on the subject, a theoretical framework was developed. Accordingly, the components effective on sense of place in residential neighborhoods have been reviewed through quantitative method and via questionnaire. Results showed that in traditional neighborhoods, “the social components and activities” and in modern neighborhoods, “the physical and visual components” obtained higher scores.
