Abstract

Today several approaches are used to assess the sustainability of a country, a city, a neighborhood or a historic site in order to achieve the objectives of sustainable development. In our research, we try to apply the “HQDIL” (Heritage-Quality- Diversity- Integration- Social link) method which is structured around five sustainable development goals.Mansourah K’bira is a historic site, dating back to 1152.Although it has more than eight centuries of existence with several assets; it is not yet rated. Thus, to assess the sustainability of this site, we have agreed to link the integrated conservation interests of the built heritage to those of the sustainable development. The advantage of this method lies in its “operationality” as a tool for decision making that could be used by local authorities The objective assigned to this research was to verify the validity of the “HQDIL” method's indicators and tools in an Algerian local context.
