Abstract
As it is generally known, one of the principles of teaching a foreign language and one of the acknowledged ways of improving the quality and effectiveness of the teaching process is utilizing students’ knowledge of their mother tongue. The results of comparative analysis of the peculiarities of the native language are to be taken into consideration by the foreign language teacher, as they help to reveal both the positive and negative influences of the system of the mother tongue on the target language in the Tatar audience. Our teaching experience of English testifies to the fact that mastering any foreign language proves to be more effective if the teacher systematically turns to comparing both languages.
