Abstract

Residential green development incorporates green buildings with site planning and environmentally sensitive landscaping. A pro-environmental behaviour that seeks to minimise the negative impact of one's action on the natural and built environment is required to sustain the green neighbourhood. We, therefore, ask whether green communities have the knowledge and desire to maintain the sustainability of such neighbourhoods. This paper investigates and compares the levels of environmental knowledge, attitude and practice of 144 homeowners between green and a conventional neighbourhood. The results showed that green communities do not possess a high level of environmental knowledge, attitude and behaviour to ensure sustainable neighbourhood.
