Abstract
This paper provides insight into the means of expressing the category “measure” and its representation in modern Russian and English. The analysis is based on the examples of evaluative characteristics (inaccurate and/or inexact) of liquid measure. The English language has a wider range of different means of expressing this measure in comparison to the Russian language. This factor poses more difficulties for translators. The study shows how these difficulties can be resolved.
