Abstract

Professional development represents, as far as the teaching career is concerned, the red line for all searches that found their concrete form in the educational legislation, pedagogical theory and school practice. In Romania, teachers professional development has a history that is connected to that of the educational ideas and institutions, its qualitative evolution having elements of continuity and of discontinuity as well. In the changing world of teaching, the professional development of the teachers remains open-ended, role-oriented and competency based. The paper refers to the dynamic and multidimensional structure of the teachers professional development. The decision-making bodies are of different categories and operate at national, at organizational, at group and at individual level. The success in the professional development of the teachers is above all conditioned by good communication and co-operation between the partners involved.
