Abstract

The central idea of the paper refers to the need to create and implement a new model of professionalization for pre-school and primary school teachers who will be proficient in English language skills, ensuring the quality of teaching early English language and therefore determining its status in kindergarten and primary school as compulsory subject. From this perspective, the investigative approach of this study is on teaching English to young learner (TEYL) new policy and practice at the European level, the Romanian context and how the process of teaching-learning is perceived by the trainee teachers preparing for Preschool and Primary education at our University. The paper will also serve to shape the new identity of this kind of teacher proficient in English, as representing a fundamental criterion in designing new educational curriculum for linguistic educators in Romanian education.
