Abstract
The research employed the descriptive, qualitative and quantitative analyzes of communication and interaction between the caregiver and the child in two cultural environments. It was assumed that the repertoire of interaction patterns is determined by the national mentality. The sampling comprised 90 caregivers and 158 urban children (6-7 years old). The methods used included the type of mentality measuring technique and quantitative methods of estimating interaction and communication. The experiment shows that the methods of interaction differ in ways of evaluation, giving support, frequency of communicative functions, structure, control over the child's activities, constraints and incentives.
