Abstract
The article considers the problem of teaching English for professional purposes to future engineers in Russia. A theoretical analysis of the problem is given. Statistical tools are used to study the impact of the teaching series “Career Paths” on the attitude of students to English language studies at the technical university. The author explores the driving forces, vehicles and destinations that lie behind successful curricular as a result of implementation of a large scale research project initiated by the Department of International Scientific and Professional Communication at Tambov State Technical University.
