Abstract
Within Combinatory Linguistics of special importance is the concept ‘position’ of a language sign. The term ‘significance of a position’ means the conditions influencing ability or inability to use a unit of language system in the environment of other units. Significance of the position corresponds to the concept of language norm. In Combinatory Linguistics ‘position’ is closely related to the main condition for existence of a language unit as part of a complex unit or its place in the language system, while the concept ‘significance of a position’ is related to language norm and accuracy of semantic content within a particular utterance.
