Abstract

The application of information technology in teaching techniques brings about a paradigm shift in our country's educational system. To realize this aim, the government has spent millions of ringgits to provide the tools, software as well as information technology courses for teachers. Therefore, the purpose of this research was to i) investigate the knowledge of using multimedia technology among science and mathematics teachers in teaching and learning, ii) investigate the problems that they faced and iii) find out their perceptions of multimedia software in helping them in teaching and learning. A set of questionnaire was distributed to 73 Science and Mathematics teachers in four schools in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. The data was analyzed using SPSS version 19.0. The results show that the respondents have a good knowledge and skills in multimedia technology. They also believe that multimedia technology will be able to help them in delivering their lesson and it will help to increase students’ interest in Science and Mathematics.
