Abstract

The main purpose of this research is to underline the importance of video analysis in tennis and how it can improve the tennis players’ learning and training process. We started with the analysis of two junior tennis players who participated in the National Romanian Tennis Championship. The research was conducted in the wintertime, a season in which players must train on indoor courts. In this type of training, the surface and the humidity inside the bubbles are different from those existing outdoors, therefore the players must change their strategy in order to get accustomed to the new conditions, by taking into consideration the fact that the ball has a higher velocity. Players’ motions were analyzed by using a semi-professional video system that also served us to make a slow-motion movie. Our aim was to clearly see if all the important needed information could be revealed by this system that any tennis coach can afford. The research was a great opportunity for the players to identify their strengths and to improve their weaknesses, in relation to the performed strokes, but also to feel the game in a different way. We did our best to provide them a complete feedback and to help the coaches with this video system.
