Abstract

To analyse cultural differences in health knowledge becomes a must for the construction of an education for school health in a globalised world.Under this rationale, the aim of this research is to analyse and understand the existing social and cultural differences regarding the conceptualisation of health among groups of Romanian immigrants and locals of the province of Almeria.A qualitative method was adopted in which the photovoice technique was used (case studies). Data analysis was performed using the statistical program ATLAS.ti7.The study results have identified important differences in the concept of health within the social groups analysed whilst it has also allowed us to point out how certain cultural factors and gender play an important role in the construction of representations in health.
