Behavioral Study on Methadone Maintenance Therapy Awareness Amongst Public in Malaysian Hospital

Malaysian Ministry of Health implemented methadone maintenance therapy (MMT) in 2005 to advocate better quality of life amongst drug addicts. This study is to reveal the public behavioral in Malaysian hospital towards MMT awareness program. A self administered questionnaire was distributed to the public in a hospital. Demographic data and MMT knowledge background were analyzed using SPSS version 16. 23.9% of 285 respondents aware of this program. 81% of respondents indicated that program promotion needs continuous improvement. In conclusion, limited campaign and public behavioral towards seeking MMT information might contribute low awareness level of MMT program amongst public in Malaysian hospital.
