Abstract

This paper attempts to highlight recent research studies concerning the educational progress and importance of using ICT skills and tools by the pupils in Romania. However, the main focus will be on the extent to which the pupils from the rural areas are involved in using these skills and tools, in order to keep up with the global requirements (European Union). Other aspects that are analyzed throughout this paper: the importance of involving pupils from the rural area in different ICT projects, so necessary for their personal development in this field; the results gathered from pupils from both the rural and urban areas, offering thus a comparison between the two areas of residence; the progresses made by the pupils and teachers in using ICT skills and tools (utility, personal development, limits, needs etc.); the results obtained in regards to other studies on this topic by comparing data (at a national and international level) etc.
