Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to describe the age structure of societies in Asia via selected parameters and estimates for 2030. The paper focuses on the largest and most populous continent inhabited by a wide variety of nations (excluding Asian Russia). Averaged data were obtained from the 2010 World Population Prospects. All the data were obtained from the same source, which makes it possible to produce a fully comparative analysis. The paper employs commonly used indicators based on averaged data for five-year periods from 2005 to 2030. Both static and dynamic indicators are used: 1) demographic aging index, 2) intergenerational support index, 3) potential support index. The final result is a spatial typology of aging in Asia, which shows regional differences.
