Abstract

Construction industry is fragmented, involves a large number of stakeholders in a complex contractual structure, and variety of psychological human behaviours that expose to corrupt activities. Corruption is a deviant behaviour which deviates from normal duties of a public role, pecuniary, and violates official ethics of public services. The objective of this paper is to investigate the behavioural factors that lead to corruption in construction based on the ‘Model of Corrupt Action’. Three methods of data collections (i.e., interviews, workshop and questionnaire) are employed to derive to the solutions. The results showed that ‘desire’ and ‘intentions’ are the significant behavioural factors to corrupt actions.
