Abstract
The construction process of IBS projects consolidated with many issues, which required management by a competent construction manager. The purpose of this paper is to investigate initial information related to the competency of construction managers in the context of the IBS construction projects in the Malaysian construction industry. Preliminary interviews were conducted among construction managers, which have experience in managing an IBS construction project. The finding reveals unanimously agreed that the construction managers who managed IBS construction projects required additional competency on top of competency for conventional construction.
