Abstract

The Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Commission includes a sub-programme for higher education funding projects at different levels of education and training, among which Erasmus. The purpose of the study is to show how Erasmus funds cooperation between higher education institutions across Europe, supporting professors to teach abroad and to receive training. The main source of evidence is our own successful experience as a teacher of English within the Erasmus staff mobility for teaching in Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (Turkey). Staff exchanges have beneficial effects both for the people participating in the programme and for the home and host institutions.
