Abstract
This paper examines the issue of immigration in relation to presenting issues at the start of this millennium. This involves an analysis of the relation between acculturation, transculturation, enculturation and inculturation as an adaptation of immigrants to an inter-cultural context. The complex process of “psychological landing” in a new world in which the accepted cultural model is the salad bowl model, is analyzed from the perspective of immigrants to Canada.The paper highlights the factors that determine successful cultural and social adaptation process as the basis of support that could contribute to its success, and ultimately to the achievement of the well -being of any society that opens its gates to immigrants.
