Abstract

In spite of approved vital role of assessment in the process of learning and teaching, much effort is not being made to prepare appropriate assessment materials and practices. This lack could be due to unclear purpose of assessment and lack of knowledge of assessment methods by instructors, especially for oral skills. Clearer understanding of instructors’ oral assessment practices will remove dark alleys and blind bends (Broadfoot, 2005). So study aims to investigate Iranian instructors’ oral skill assessment at tertiary level. To this end 49 instructors teaching English as a foreign language were selected purposively to answer the questionnaire .The findings will provide direction for current teacher education and policy making in EFL training and teacher certification programs.
