Abstract

The article is dedicated to the study of formation of perceptual images, its underlying mechanisms and conditions. Image formation should be studied through the “formation experiment” with the help of “ambiguous” figures as the most suitable experimental material for this purpose. The article describes the study of the image formation registered by eye tracking technique. The research was conducted with the help of SMI GAZE AND EYETRACKING system (IVIEW X™ RED). The results of the experiment show that eye movements may be considered as the criteria of image change/formation. This change is determined not by the nature of the picture perceived but by the tasks a person performs as well as the content of his activity.
