Abstract
The ideas of the social representations theory proposed by Moscovici [1], and developed in the structural approach by Abric [2] were used in the study in order to reveal the structure of social representations of sexual maniac and victim shared by men and women. In line with the theoretical points concerning the defensive function of social representations it was predicted that women would have more shared and concrete social representations of sexual maniac and victim than men. A total of 224 young Russians (107 males and 117 females) took part in this study. The results were consistent with the prediction.
