Diagnosing Students’ Language Knowledge and Skills

At present there exists bulk of different placement tests, such as Cambridge English Placement Test or Oxford Online Placement Test, whose aim is to place students on the basis of their scores in the placement test into the right language class/course. However, most of the tests focus just on one language; in most cases it is English. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to discuss DIALANG - the test which can test more than one language and other skills than just grammar structures and vocabulary. In addition, this test is free of charge and provides students with useful advice on how to improve their language skills. The paper also lists advantages and disadvantages of taking this test and gives specific examples drawn on the test of writing.
