Abstract
We think that he Romanian educational system today should put more emphasis on differentiating and catering for individual learners with different abilities and individual interests. Therefore, the present paper focuses on how to increase awareness on the role of autonomous learning through activities and implementation in the foreign language classrooms and how to prepare teachers to offer guidance and assistance to learners during the learning process, to encourage learners to take control of their own learning as to be aware of how, what and why they are learning a foreign language.
