Abstract
Large firms develop and follow a path of company specific competence for sustained competitiveness. However, not much literature is available on capabilities management in manufacturing SMEs. This paper presents initial results of retrospective study on capabilities development and their affect on firm competitiveness across a sample of successful SMEs in leather, sports and surgical instruments clusters.
