Abstract
⺠We model impatience of requests over a WDM network by a queue with working vacations. ⺠We compare two types of working vacations, single (SWV) and multiple (MWV). ⺠Closed form solutions are obtained for various system performance measures. ⺠Without impatience, MWV performs better than SWV with respect to mean queue lengths. ⺠With impatience, there is no definite conclusion.
