Order-based backorders in multi-item inventory systems

A new exact method is provided for evaluating the average order-based backorders of a multi-item inventory system under the (r,nQ)(r,nQ) inventory policy for items. The key to the method is as follows: the joint inventory positions for the same epoch and for different epochs share the same conditions of being independent and uniformly distributed.
