Abstract
⺠Gény and Holmes played similar roles in early 20th century legal thought. ⺠Gény and Holmes diverged, however, on the question of natural law. ⺠Holmes thought all legal concepts were prone to judicial abuse. ⺠Gény thought justice and social utility could guide judicial interpretation. ⺠Both men believed their views on natural law were vindicated by the events of WWI.
