A novel quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) sensor with a high selectivity and sensitivity has been developed for bilirubin determination, based on the modification of bilirubin-imprinted titania film onto a quartz crystal by molecular imprinting and surface sol-gel techniques. The performance of the developed bilirubin biosensor was evaluated and the results indicated that a sensitive bilirubin biosensor could be fabricated. The obtained bilirubin biosensor presents high-selectivity monitoring of bilirubin, better reproducibility, shorter response time (30 min), wider linear range (0.1–50 μM), and lower detection limit (0.05 μM). The analytical application of the bilirubin biosensor confirms the feasibility of bilirubin determination in serum sample.
