This review reports the progress on the recent development of fractal design of microfluidics and nanofluidics. Fractal design of microfluidics for mixing, reaction, heat transfer and lots of other application are illustrated and discussed. Nanofluidics based on fractal design is discussed mainly from the modeling and applications of heat transfer including nanoparticle clustering, convection transport, thermal conductance of electrons, and heat flux of nanofluid. A variety of microfluidic and nanofluidic devices designed based on fractal method are expounded and analyzed. This paper will provide an expedient and valuable reference to designers who research structural design and optimized design of microfluidic and nanofluidic devices.
