Abstract
⺠A new variance estimator is proposed as an alternative to Grubbs' estimators. ⺠The methodology is illustrated using a real data set. ⺠Sampling distributions are compared theoretically and by Monte Carlo simulation. ⺠The new estimator performs very well in some realistic situations.
